Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Art Sozo?
A: Art Sozo is a new way to connect your emotions to the heart of God and allow His healing to take place. The activity of painting helps to bypass roadblocks and allow God's truth to shine through on canvas and speak deeply into hearts. No artist experience is required.
Q: What is the difference between an Art Sozo Workshop, Training, and Retreat?
A: An Art Sozo Workshop is a unique art encounter with God using Sozo inner healing tools. You will explore connecting to your emotions and the heart of God using paint. No art experience necessary. This is a group workshop and you will leave with 3 paintings carrying the truth of God!
In an Art Sozo Training, you will learn the techniques used for the Art Sozo Workshop. The goal of the training is to provide a deeper understanding of Art Sozo and give you information and hands-on experience to prepare you to lead your own workshops. Prerequisites to lead the Art Sozo Workshop are to complete Bethel Basic Sozo training and you be based out of a church-based Sozo ministry. This training event will be led by Gail Spooner, Pastoral Counselor at Bethel Transformation Center and founder of the Art Sozo Technique.
An Art Sozo Retreat is a 1.5 day experiential retreat using Art Sozo activities. The goal is helping participants be fully connected to God and be able to express their emotions to God and have him speak truth into their life through art.

A: The best way to see if Art Sozo is near you is to contact a Sozo Facilitator in your area. To see if there is a facilitator in your area and to contact them, click here.
Q: Can my child attend an Art Sozo Workshop?
A: Usually we limit the age to 14 and older for this group workshop. The reason is because the Sozo process can be difficult for some children. It is in a group setting and topics being shared may be more adult, and lastly they need to be able to sit for 3 hours.
Currently the only option we have for children under the age of 13 to receive an Art Sozo is to schedule one at the Bethel Transformation Center in Redding, CA. You can schedule your session with the Transformation Center by visiting their website.
Q: I’d like to lead others through Art Sozo. What do I need to know?
A: We ask that you don't lead others through Art Sozo until you are trained in Art Sozo and Bethel Basic Sozo so the participants hearts will be well cared for.
Q: Is there an online Art Sozo training I can take?
A: Yes! Please visit our Events page (HERE) for a list of upcoming events.
Q: Where is the Art Sozo Manual available and is there an eBook?
A: It is available from the Bethel Bookstore at Bethel Church and online (click HERE). The eBook version will be available soon on Bethel’s online store.
